Anyone ever heard of Bilchrome?

I saw it cast on the side of an engine block and then read about it on the Rover forum. Has any here have any info in regards to it?

Not much help I'm afraid, but I've found about a dozen references in various web forums to Bilchrome being a foundry which cast blocks for Perkins and Massey-Ferguson, as well as chrome and silverware, in Sheffield, England.

This might give you some leads:

Looks like the Perkins engine was sometimes a replacement engine for the LandRover.

I guess if I cam across an engine with the cast into it, it's not MG then.

Thanks for that link.

I thought it might be there telling TR6Bill to chrome the valve cover instead of painting it red.
