ANybody want a 2-seater hardtop...

Buy it know for $12,000.00..... Really.
I want one... But $12,000.00
what happened to the recession??

There was a local one offered that I could drive my car to, for pick up, but I was waffling on the $5k/$5.5k he was asking.

I would like to have a hardtop for my Healey, but to be realistic, I can't see ever needing it. The Healey isn't my first choice to drive in inclement or cold weather, and having to store three (3) hardtops could be the butt of many jokes,

Hey Randy,
I'm like you, wouldn't mind having a hardtop for my BN6, but don't know when I
would use it or worse, where I would store it. Just doesn't get cold enough down here
in coastal South Carolina, particularly $12,000 worth of cold !
Regards,
Mike

Would someone care to "watch this item" on ebay for us? I'd like to know how high the bidding goes. I doubt the bidding would go anywhere near the "buy it now price". You have to be a member of ebay to watch an item. Wonder why the seller is even offering the top as it's the same color has their car. It would cost around 4K to restore this top to match another car. The tops are fiberglass and take a "set" so to speak when attached to a car, and if you place on another car it might not fit just right.

Just things to consider...

That seems like a crazy amount for the top. I see from the Sellers info that he/she is from Colorado. I'm from Colorado and was just at the Colorado English Motoring Conclave last week and the owner didn't have the car or hardtop there to sell. From the background it appears that the owner may live in the mountains. A while back there I think there was a BN7 for sale on Ebay (blue over white)... I think it may have been the car seen with the hardtop, I'm pretty sure that car had a hardtop and it was located in the mountains. Again, I've never seen the car at anything down here in the Denver area.

Okay, I just went back to the posting for the Ebay hardtop and it is the car that was for sale about 6ish months ago. I know because if you look closely you can see it has a spare tire mounted on the rear deck!! I remember that from the car's for sale pics.

Cheers,
Steve

Hey Johnny,
I'll let everyone know what it goes for !

We'll likely see the "bid price" go up a bit, but I predict we'll see "auction ended" on that item, without a sale.

But jeez, if he's asking $12k for the hdtp, what do you suppose he got for a 2-seater with rare (I mean, there can be only one) Continental Touring Package?

A few years back I rebuilt/restored 2 two-seater hardtops, kept one for my BN7 and sold the other for $8K to a very happy buyer. $12K is a bit steep.
Cheers

Randy, as I recall the rare Continental Touring Kit Austin Healey i.e. spare tyre bolted to the rear deck lid, did not sell (go figure).

Cheers,
Steve

Well, it was easily worth double that (say $5k) but $12k makes me wonder what the seller's been smoking; must've been some good poop!

It did not meet the reserve... I wonder if it will be re listed with a lower reserve and a lower total take it off my hands price.
Randy.. so you think $5k is a sound price. I was hoping that it might sell for less.
