TR2/3/3A Anybody install a vintage A/C kit [ tr3]

Just wondering, has anybody installed a vintage A/C kit in there Tr3?

I am more or less thinking of a kit something along the lines of

I plan to use the car when commuting to the city and I think a little A/C would be nice once in a while, getting a heat soak in traffic is not to fun.

I am not in a rush to do this but what do you guys think?

IMO you would be far better off concentrating on insulating the cabin (and stopping all the air leaks); plus maybe a white 'bikini' top for when the sun is really hot.

I don't doubt that it's possible to install AC, but it looks like a major project to me with very limited benefit. Really no room for a compressor on the LH side I think, so it would have to go on the right, which is going to put it very close to the alternator. You'll have to either come up with a second belt drive, or run a serpentine belt to handle two pulleys so close together; either way you'll need a lot of custom parts just to get the thing mounted and powered.

Easier (and probably cheaper in the long run) to just buy a Miata for the hot days :laugh:

These guys managed to custom fit one in a Morris Minor. I would assume you could do it, might be bit of work. I wonder how effective it would be in a side curtain car. I have had passing thoughts about doing the same thing in my TR4 Surrey, with roll up windows and maybe having to use the hard top, it might actually work. My wife has MS so heat really devastates her. So far we plan our drives in the evening, but it would be fun to make a long day or several day trip in the summer and not worry about the heat.

That's what I did! I've got a '92 1.6 with a supercharger. Fun little sports car.
