Anybody have experience with Weber 38 DGAS

My motor isn't British, but (if you don't already know) is the Nissan A15. I have the old Hitachi carb on it.

I've been looking into a Weber replacement, so the 32/36 is one option but the 38 DGAS / DGES has caught my attention as well.
Anyone here have experience with this carb?

If you can find one that is set up specifically for your engine, go for it. Setting up a carb from scratch is a dark art. It requires near magical skill and years of experience to be done right.

Yes, I know what you mean.

Back when my MGC was last running I did a little custom work on it's SU's that actually improved response where I needed it. But it was scary business back then in the dark ages, no BBS or forums to go to with questions...

I'm pretty confident that the guys over on the datsun1200 forum can tell me just what I would need for my engine, but I was looking for a bit more - touchy feelie - type of information.
Such as: Was it a big improvement over whatever you had before (compared to what?).
I believe I would have to make a pretty significant modification to my current manifold to do a 38/38 - the stock intake holes seem pretty small and would have to be opened up. Or I could just bolt on a 32/36 if the 38/38 wouldn't be that big of an improvement.
