Any Rear Windscreen Photos

Greetings all-

Somewhere in my internet travels I kinda remember
seeing some type of nice looking rear windscreen.
I'm thinking maybe plexiglass. It was low height
at maybe 12 inches or so. Behind the seats I think
but not mounted on the trunk sheet metal.

If anyone has one on their car, I would greaty
appreciate some photos with maybe close-ups of the
mounting hardware.

I believe I could fabricate one myself if I can see one.

Tin- There is a version of this on the market. There is also people who have made there own. One caveat though, you need a roll bar to do it. I don't think there is one available ala Porche or Miata that is free standing.

I don't have a pic of one but from what I've seen modern windscreens are made from 3/16ths (1/4 probably better) inch thick scratch resistant thermoplastic or Lexan which may very well be the same thing (not sure). Plexiglass is too brittle. I did use Lexan for the window inserts on my 3 side curtains. BTW, thanks for sending Ernesto this way we really need a little more rain. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/jester.gif
 
I was looking for a screen for my Sky but attached is a picture of a screen in an allante. They made a frame and attached it to the b-posts(rear upright post that the door lock is attached to) I like the frame its in. Sorry no 6 pics yet.

I recently attended a show and took these pics. The windscreen was bought in Britain, it was easily removed by removing material straps which were snapped onto a fastener. the bracket was screwed into one of the flat head screws on each side.

Her is another view. The first flat bar separates from mounting assy as well as the windscreen assy. I would think something similar can be fabricated.I too will attempt this project when time permits.

Thanks for the compliment, Paul. Here is another shot of my combo rollbar/wind deflector/third brake light. Sorry for it being a little dirty. If anyone from the MG site stumbles across this photo, just ignore the sticker. HehHehHeh.

Mounting brackets? What this is is a Vicky Brit standard roll bar which bolts directly into the floorboard and rear shelf. Is that what you are referring to? The glass window is mounted to the roll bar with "H"-shaped rubber gaskets mounted to a frame welded to the roll bar. Are we on the same page?

This looks like something I might be able to handle.
I'll ponder it a while, and if I come up with anything
successful I post some dimensions, drawings and how to
photos.

Bill, I see yours fits underneath the with the top on.
Do I need to worry about my design fitting under the top? Seeings how the crypt car is stationary in my garage??

I was asking Kodaja for pics of the mounting brackets for what he posted (note his name in my reply). I knew how yours was installed because I read your replies to my post back in the early summer. You explained exactly how you installed the glass, etc. I was just looking for his windscreen info out of curiosity.

Kodaja's windblocker looks to be the same as the one shown in the link in my earlier post - attached to the sides of the car, but not the roll bar.

Ahhhh, yes it does. The dummy on the other side of my monitor missed that link when he was interrupted by a phone call. That's a neat installation and he did get it in behind his roll bar rather nicely. One of my winter projects will be to copy Bill's installation, building it into the roll bar. I've got the bar and the light, now all I need is the glass and frame. Yeah right! Not exactly the easy parts...
