All the friendly MG vs Triumph banter has me wondering: How many own both?

(No comments on preferences, please!)

h'rumpf. Leaves me out... Glad *I* don't have a problem!

<snickerin' madly>

And "Darn Happy" with my Sports Car. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/driving.gif

I have a '78 Midget.
MG Body, Triumph Engine
Does this count?

Only when you need it to START Mike /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/yesnod.gif

And BTW: If it won't (START) Banjo is qualified with "Hybrids".

Mehheh.

I don't have but would never segregate my garage.

Bruce

I have one of both and there are very few spats between the two of them. Although, the MGBGT is a bit put out that the Spitfire has personalized plates and unfortunately I can't come up with a personalized plate idea I like for the MGBGT. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/canpatriot.GIF

Except for wanting an MG-TD since I was a little kid (and not knowing it was an MG) my main interest in British cars was sparked when someone left a TR6 project in our company hangar years ago. Everything was disassembled and painted, it justed needed to be put back together - missed out on a good deal I think... anyway... I still want a TR6!

I have owned many Triumphs(probably 20 or more) but now I am all MG's...no particular reason, an MGA was my first car(the red one) and the others just kinda ended up here....One of my rumph's was a perfect original TR3 in white with a red interior, one of my biggest regrets is selling that car...I've also always loved TR6s, owned many but never kept them for long, I almost bought another one a few months ago but the deal fell through /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Either way any LBC is a wonderful car nomatter what it's name plate says.

Zack

Not right now but can't pass up adopting an orphan GT6 from time to time...am also always on the lookout for one of the Stags.

Well, I've got Sprites, Midgets, a couple of Spitfires, and a GT6, so I guess I qualify. Not to mention a Fiat 850 Spyder.

What kinda trouble are you gettin me into Doc?!
I like the 1500. but by the time it was "transplanted" into the midgets it was pretty choked up with the emissions garbage. (I've never been a fan of the smogged up ZS)
The "hybrid" you're really referring to is one of my favorite things about my job. I'm totally facinated by those cars. I love working on them.
P.S. Owned MG, Triumph, AH(62 Sprite) Love 'em all.
Currently stuck on the TRs but I am idlely looking for a cheap, drivable MGBGT for a daily.

hehheh... No trouble at all! You're one of the few tech's who has an appreciation of both "worlds." I just hope there are a few following your footsteps.

78 MGB and 80 Spitfire share the same garage, but I have noticed that it is hard to keep them both running properly at the same time. They seem to get jelious of the other one and want to malfunction if the other one gets a new part.

/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/lol.gif Could it be that the B covets the Spit's exhaust system?

When I was 18 a girl friend had a TR3, does that count. She would actually loan it to me. My very first experence with..........well you know.

i've got two basket case healeys and two MGBs, both Bs i can drive anywhere without worrying as both are exceptionally sound mechanically. I've owned just about every british mark, and if i could afford it, maybe a mid 60's XKE...but for now, i am very happy with the Bs. I'm 6'3" and about 250# so everywhere i go, it's the same question..."how do you fit in there?" Hmmm, anyone who owns a MGB knows the answer to that!

absolutely! the 'B is decievingly spacious on the inside!!! it's like the inside of Dr. Who's telephone booth! Negative space... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Really though, I find I have more of the kind of leg room that I WANT in my 'B than I have in my room mates' Pontiac Sunfire or Vibe. Both of those cars feel like they were made for people with large amounts of girth and short stubby arms and legs. I can never find anything to lean my right knee on and left foot on while driving those things. Granted the Vibe has a nice "dead pedal" but it's hardly in a position that I find comfortable to use. However, I do find the abundant amounts of power from their engines enjoyable... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

jlaird: How's Niceville? Don't worry, no cracks about the name of the town from here. I grew up in the area, the other side of Eglin AFB though... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif In fact, I'm heading out to Shalimar in a few weeks to visit family for Christmas.
