Any issue with cutting this weld on the spring base plates?

Base plates have a small amount of welding that doesn't seem to serve any purpose since they are very well bolted in place. And I need to remove them to get the floor pan sheet metal off underneath. Maybe the welding was a "manufacturing convenience". Any issue with carefully cutting these welds and not welding back when assembled with new sheet metal? I could but not sure if I should even bother. The welds aren't even consistent in their placement on both side of the car.

IIRC cutting that weld won't get that plate off. It is welded from the other side. Are you replacing the floorpan. If so. placement of this bracket is critical for chassis / Rear End alignment, I simply cut around the bracket and off it came. I abandoned that project and sold it to someone else so someone needs to speak to making sure new bracket goes back in the exact same place.

I pried it up a little and the only welds seem to be on the end closest to the elliptical spring, not underneath on my car. Hey but that doesn't necessarily mean yours isn't welded below the plate!
Since I have to replace the spring boxes anyway I have realized I have to cut those welds to get the boxes off. When I get it all back together I plan to do a lot of measuring to make sure its all square and as it was before proceeding with rewelding. Don't want to be going down the road semi sideways.

The welds you marked and the 5 or 6 big spot welds must be drilled/cut out, but you must weld everything back to insure the integrity of the rear suspension and the chassis stiffeners. Look at the way the spring boxes, bulkhead, stiffeners and shut panel are assembled.
