Another White 2-seater

OK, I have *another* white 2 seater. :jester:

But it's not really *that* exciting. It's a Chevy Express cargo van.

I have enjoyed owning ~My Ford Freestar~ and it has worked very well as a tow vehicle/passenger vehicle. But Linda bought a new Accord not long ago, so I don't really need the extra seating. And I'd like a bit more room for tools and stuff. I've been thinking in the last month or so that there might be some decent left-over prices on certain vans and the Freestar still has a useful trade-in value.

Anyway, my preference has been a Chevy Express due being moderately priced and available with the excellent 4.3 Vortech V6 (I don't need a V8).
I also like the Dodge/Mercedes Sprinter but they are $10,000 more than these Chevy vans.

I've been watching to see if there have been any dealer incentives to move the 2009 vans and GM came out with one last week. Two months ago, a zero-option base model Express went for about $25,000. I got mine with optional cloth seats, rear door windows and side door windows (both options) for $21,500 (after some painful negotiations). Mine also has the "Smokers Package" which means they charge you $35 for an ashtray. LOL

After they quoted me the prices, I told them I had a trade in vehicle (I wouldn't discuss this until they gave me a price on the Express). In the end, they gave me $11,000 less than what I paid for the Freestar when it was new 5 years ago. Not bad.

New van.

Nial;

That is a good looking Snow White fleet.
Includes enough room for the seven attendants.

Good deal on the van, they are about twice that up in the land of bad skiing.

Dave

A "Smokers Package", now that's a new one!!

OI!! Nial!!! If ya need some nicely roll'd cigars, ya have my contact info. :smirk:

So, does the Spridget get a white paint job?

You can't fool me! I went to college in the 60s! Are you sure they're cigars and not those other, funny things? :jester:

For what it's worth, we've tried some Cubans.
(but not in the USA, of course  )

Right now I'm painting the “new” Austin a colour that is *approximately* Speedwell Blue. This was the colour of the original Sprinzel A35 that Graham Hill campaigned. If I like it, I might do the Spridget the same blue colour. Light shades hide a lot of sins and the Spridget has lots of “patina”.

So, now you're gonna need a double trailer to haul both cars behind that new racecar van.

Nial,

Well,it's White & generic.
Are you going to put a bar code on each side?

You could also remove any logos/badging and replace them with just "VAN"

I hope it gives you many good years of service.
