So I need to replace the muffler on my 68 GT. As I'm laying under there and looking at stuff I got to wondering if anyone has put side pipes (AKA lake pipes) on an MG?

It probably wouldn't be easy, there isn't much room from the collector to get out to the front of the sills. You would want them on both sides, of course. And I would want chrome or aluminum (aluminium) covers, too.

Just wondering if it has been done.
 
Yeah, as I look at those shots, side pipes look good on Cobras & Vettes, but I'm not fired up about the on a B. Thanks for the face slap back to reality.

I actually don't find that MGs (or triumphs for that matter) really lend themselves to customization in the "hot rod" sense of the word. I really like the Sebring look but, even a spoiler, I really haven't seen one that truly fits. - I think it is the "European" heritage.
 
A proper Ansa/Stebro twin outlet set of rear exit tubes is about as sexy as it gets for an MGB, IMHO.
 
I think the side pipes on an MGB looks like something out of J C Whitney that you stick on for looks. Don't like them at all!:flush: PJ
