Another Triumph newbie

Basketcase

I've owned the same MGA since 1968. I've owned several other British cars over the ensuing years but never a Triumph.

Two years ago in the local hardware store, looking for special bolt and wearing my MG hat, the sales guy told me he had a TR3A. He followed that saying it needed a new home. To make the story short, the basket case is now at my home. He had it for 25 years and never did much of anything to it.

It needs a lot of work and I'll have a lot of questions for sure.

Bill

Glad to have you on the forum! I used to have a neighbor who had a lovely light blue MGA. I always loved the look of those cars!

Welcome! Great find on the TR3A. I have a 69 TR6 but alway liked the 3's. Looking to find one now to keep the 6 company. Keep us up to date on progress on the 3 as well as the MGA; we have a three MGA in our local club. One of which is an award winner.
Glad to have you with us TR folks.

Hi there Bill,

Welcome aboard from an "EX" PA Pocono Mtn. Resident. Best wishes with the restoration of your TR3 & cont. love affair with your MGA.

Regards, Russ

Re: Another Triumph newbie - Update

Guys, thanks for the welcome aboard. Progress on the 3 is going to be slow due to some other projects that are in line ahead of it. I gave the car the name "Mistress" because I do cheat on the other projects from time to time. I an in the process of finishing our basement so I can a real nice man cave/entertainment area. I also have a 78 Mini that needs a lot of work and a 70 Mini that needs a complete restoration and they were here first.

But, I do cheat. So far I have welded braces in the body so I can lift it with an engine hoist, and have repaired the nose of the right front fender. Bought a lot of parts when TRF has a 50% off sale and started on the left rear fender. I started on the right rear fender just because TRF had the stone guards on sale. I tried to attach some pictures but can't quite figure out how to do it. Maybe later because right now trying to figure out to upload pictures is turning me into a basket case.

Welcome - you're fortunate to be fairly near such a great source of parts & inspiration.

There are several ways to do pictures - I use a host site (Photobucket) and just copy (right click on the image and select copy) then paste it in the message here using 'picture' icon - third icon from the right in row of icons above a composed message.
