Another tragic loss.....

Yesterday one of my son's good friends was killed in a tragic traffic accident. She was 18 years old, #1 in her senior class, Senior class president. Beta CLub, Honor SOciety. She was on her way home from an interview with the Yale recruiters when her car stalled on a busy street in 5:00 traffic. She got out of the car to push it to the side of the road and was struck and killed by another car whose driver wasn't paying attention. Just another reminder that safe driving isn't all we need to be talking about with our kids. Please talk to them about what to do in the event of break downs, flat tires and how to protect your self from injury if caught in these situations on busy roads and highways.

Very sorry to hear it.

A senseless death is even more painful and more difficult to accept, harder to understand, when it involves a child. I'm so sorry your son (and all concerned) have to go through this. My dot lost her best friend a few short months after they both turned 16 in an auto accident.

I'm so sorry to hear this.

I know this sounds strange especially to those who have lost a loved one but they are in a better place

I am with Mickey on this one

weewillie, I know what you're saying, but no, the 'better place' for that 18 year old is right here with her family and friends.

I know how these people drive.
I try not to turn my back on traffic.
This is especially true while working
as a volunteer Firefighter.
Expect people to drive stupidly,& you
won't be dissapointed. We've lost way too
many young people here in traffic accidents.
Kids should outlive their parents.

Jaybird, thank you for saying that. Having lost a child, my wife gets so angry to hear people say that. They just don't understand!

I hate saying this--just lost my favorite niece. 37 years old. Watched my sister and brother in law melt yesterday. 18 is way too young. my sympathy to them all.
