Hi everyone,
I have another question about electronics. This time, it's my Harman Kardon 330c receiver. I just did some work on it that included blowing dust out of the case and off the boards, and removing the output transistors so the heat sink and mica insulators could be cleaned and re-gooped with non-conductive thermal paste, and careful cleaning of the function switch.
It sounds quite good driving a pair of 8ohm Sony bookshelf speakers. The AM tuner is good, and both AM and FM seem to be more or less spot-on for the indicator. I've elected not to re-cap it at this time as there is no hum in the audio that would indicate a failing cap.
But with some of the work, I've been advised that biasing the amp would be a good idea. I found instructions in an online HK manual. It showed where to measure the emitter resistors and the location of the variable resistors. It said to connect an 8ohm 50W resistor across the left and right speaker terminals.

I don't have a problem buying those if they'll serve the purpose, but don't want to buy them if they're not the right thing.
