Another panther Lima

I am quite the same way for old Tr3's . For some reason they seem to just show up here and beg for love
and a place of refuge.
My advise on a garage is always build it bigger (than you tell the wife ) or you imagine you will ever need.

Know where your comming from MD but here in the UK if keep below 15 square and under four metres high for a free standing garage, there is no need for planning permission, anything greater than that you are reqired to have plans drawn up then submit them to the planning office,
it can take months and cost more than the garage itself. I can make do with a 16ft by 10ft.
concrete floor, timber frame and cladding.

Here in the colonies it is a lot simpler, though in the city, you got your hoops the jump through.
We are in the outer area, so county regulations are the rule.
I did smack up against it at my business when I tried to erect a sign on the roof of the building.
After months, I got in front of the planning commision, presented my plans and drawings for the
sign and they just said sure go for it and gave me the "variant"slip so I could buy the permit.
The actual law was so out dated it could not be applied to ANY modern building at all, as it
referred to " anchors in the brick & mortar of the side walls"

Been out of it for a few weeks, got ambulanced into the hospital with a chest pain, all my tests came back good
blood tests saying i had not had a heart attack, blood pressure of a twenty year old ECG and chest xray both good.
but having to take a shed load of medication until they can get me back in as an out patient for a scan of my arteies,
they think i may have had an angina attack, possible stent waiting in the wings.

on a much better note, before all this happened i did manage to get the new Lima to fire up when the key arrived,
the ignition switch on the back of the steering lock barrel had popped off and fell to bit but was lucky enough to
find all the bits to put it back together, then the start would not turn so that was taken off stripped cleaned and pu back on,
but try as she might not turning over, the alternator was siezed sollid, so i cut the fan belt off it and now she turns over,
number one plug in and dribbled a bit of fuel into the carb and she spits back throught the carb, turned the dizzy 180 and now fired right,
number 3 plug in got two chugging away. fitted the last two an fed the carb from a conainer and the old girl fired up and run
till the carb was empty, and the exhaust was clean, no bad smoke.
But oil light did not go out and no pressure on the gauge.
Not too worried about it though as i have known these engines after standing for a long time the pump dries out completely as it is high up under the dizzy, I will need to take out the oil pressure switch and back feed some oil into the gallery to prime the pump.
sure she will be OK.
Now she is put to bed in a nice dry garage, I have been banned by her indoors from picking up anything heavier than a knife and fork
until the quacks can find out whats wrong with me.

Had a little Healey (A series) just refused to pull oil when started for the first time in years.
Took off the oil line and back fed it to prime the pump.
These days our pumps are as easily fixed. Last year my wife had a pretty bad heart attack out of the blue.
110Lbs soaking wet and she had to get 5 stints in her coronary arteries. She has always nagged me.....

I'm 6 ft 220 lbs not overweight dont drink.
Doesn't help I'm a smoker and have been since aged 12. This could be the wake up call I need. Cutting down now. First steps to getting rid.
I am glad your better half survived her ordeal. She deserves the trophy

Glad the tests were good - hope all works out

Mezy , sounds like my dad. 6 ft 220 never sick a day in his life but smoked 2 packs/day
He died in 1966. Never got to see me go to high school ,college, get married and have kids.
I have never smoked cigs and when my kids were of the age kids seem to start at, I gave them
a promise to break their arms first. With my finest don't try me look.
It worked, both non smokers.
I heartily support your decision to quit. Nicotine is inhaled heroin for most smokers, you have to work hard
to make it happen. Best of luck to you!!!

Hey Mezy, as a former smoker I too hope you can "kick the habit." A serious health scare helped me stop. Smoked 2 packs a day for 20+ years and tried to quit many times. When the surgeon said I'm just wasting his time and my money if I continued, that finally got my attention. That was 26 years ago and I have not touched one since.
