A post in The Pub put me in mind of this: The Peter Gabriel song: "In Your Eyes"

The eyes have it.

What shot with? Looks a tad soft and wondering if it might be slight motion blur? Otherwise great shot.

No recollection what camera I used, one of the Nikons for certain. Likely with a 50mm prime. Certainly camera movement, possible subject too. Low shutter speed, most likely 1/30th. And a grab shot. Available light from a window. And film sharp vs. digital sharp is in play also.

The forward sleeve seems to be where the focus point was.

Just jammed it thru Darktable with "sharpen" tool applied vigorously:

That would do it unless lens had IS. Now that you mention it, the focus does look a bit to the front. The Marketable made a noticeable improvement.

IS/VR was likely just a dream when that image was taken.

1978. Bearded and a ponytail... in spite of the hair loss on top. "Hypocritically Bald" at that point. FM camera, 90mm Vivitar Series-1 ∱2.5.
