Hi. . . . I have always liked the Triumph TR6's and finally bit the bullet and bought a couple. I have a 1972 and 1973. The 73 is primarily to serve as a parts car for the 72. I have a friend who is much more into the restoration of these cars and we made a deal that I would buy them and he would do the restoration in exchange for giving him what's left of the parts car. he is planning on putting a V8 in the 73. Mine will have the restored inline 6. I am trying to learn as much as possible so I can at least work on the thing without having to run to him every time I need something.

Buying these cars is the best thing I have done in a long time. I have not been this excited since my daughter was born. I appreciate everyone's support and I hope I can help some others in the future after I learn a little more. If anyone has any advice, please let me know.

Welcome to the joyous, frustrating, and insane world of British Automobile ownership. As well as to the Forum, of course.
One small word of warning, though. This is a disease that, thankfully, has no known cure.
You only have two. So far.

I could not resist , had to make it three Michigan replies in a row. I think we get an award or something for that; at least that's what Basil said.

Welcome to help central! this forum has provided a lot of tech tips and humor , and entertainment(sometimes unwittingly ) and is the best place place to share this engaging hobby.

Good luck on your resto- and when you finish that 6 - consider joining those of us in Wedge World .

Ace, My good man I'm sure that you are not the first person here that had no experience with cars before they owned an LBC. Heck before I owned my first TR7 I didn't know Jack! Didn't want to,or care to. In my neighborhood they called us G & G boys (Gas and Go boys). After I got my first (soaking) repair bill from a certified British Leyland mechanic I went straight out and bought a good factory repair manual,a set of wrenches and started doing my own repairs. A friend of mine had the same identical car (right down to the paint) and he helped me when I ran into a problem. Like you I had limited car knowledge (a little auto shop in school). Now I have done so many car repairs that I amaze that poor little G & G boy that I used to be. And that was all before THE INTERNET. This wonderful tool lets you reach out to many people with the same car and that solved the same problem on their cars that you have now. Its like having them all come over and stand in the driveway with you while you work on your machine. Except they don't drink your last cold beer!
