Another "excess to requirement" optic

It was one of the "nevermind" lenses back-when, too costly to justify for a couple reasons. Now they're cheap in comparison. Not one to haul around in the bag but it may have some uses:

This is with a prime 35mm, approximates angle-of-acceptance with a 50mm on a full-frame camera:

Same "view" with the 500, hand-held so not the best way to check for image sharpness but you get the idea:

Tripod mounted, same shot:

And a cropped section:

May set a 400mm glass lens on a tripod and see what the difference is in sharpness.

Hand-held the glass 400mm ∱6.3 for this, just this AM. First image reduced to post, second cropped with no reduction in resolution from original.

ISO 800, ∱11 at 1/800 sec.

Glass wins!

This is the same lens I used with B&W T-Max to take the photo of the moon posted earlier, BTW.

"Cheap" Soligor Tele-Auto T-4 adapter mount.

Speaking of Soligor, my second attempt to snag a 72mm lens cap for my 28-70mm Soligor FD Canon Mount was successful. Recall my first purchase resulted in my receipt of a 52mm not a 72mm cap. This second purchase resulted in the correct size and it fits perfectly and is in excellent condition.

Now I'll likely come across the one here. Once again corroborating the "Particle Duality" theory on the macro scale.

You may get a "spare" if it happens.
