My Given name is Jack. I am 67 years old and retired of course. Live in Niceville FL.

I had a bugeye for almost 30 years, three restorations and lots of moves, USAF. Then went over seas to Saudi Arabia after the USAF to bolster my finances a bit. Eight years was all I could stand.

I had a 58 kind of Bugeye, white with red enterior. Engine was a 948 balanced to a quarter gram, alinged ports, cut down flywheel, milled head and on and on. It from the outside looked orginal. But went very well. It had an extra oil temp gage in the dash, that is the only way it was different externaly. Have no clue where it is now, sold it in Sumter SC in 1990 or 91. What a dumb thing to do, should have put it in storage but thought it would be easy to replace.

So here I am looking for another to restore and bring back to the land of the living. I parted two in the process of restoring mine, rusted out so not great loss, however...... at this point I would take either one, sigh.

Lovely to see all the parts you have available now, they were really hard to find in the early days. We made do in many cases but Moss Moters in Richmond, England was a life saver.

Spoke with Moss yesterday and Little british Cars today, nice folks out there. Was looking for a new tub but they both said no one is makeing or assimbleing the parts. I did see a fiberglass bonnet some place on the web. Gesh my first car did not have a bonnet for almost a year, finaly found one in a guys back yard, $20 and shipping on the bus made it mine.

Enough of this, glad to be with you, keep and eye out for a tub for me please. I have a pickup and can haul.

Welcome to the forum. I hope its useful for you.

Try keeping an eye on e-bay. There's a lot there that isn't worth the bother but some good stuff tuns up too, you just have to know what you want, what's good and bad potentially, and what a fair price and reliable ways for finishing the deal where you get what you want, and they do too.

Welcome to the sanest assylum there is, well worth the admission f(r)ee.

Jack;

Welcome

You can buy a new Spridget "Heritage" body shell here:

https://www.bmh-ltd.com/

These are not Bugeye bodies (they're half-elliptic cars), but the glass Bugeye nose will fit right on them.....and as well as a brand-new chassis, you'd have a trunk.

Bugeye noses are available at:

Speedwell Engineering:
https://www.speedwellengineering.com/glasspage.html

As well as "Winner's CIrcle" and "Frontline".

If you car must be a *real* Bugeye, the obvious choice is to look at e-Bay, Craig's List, or look in the British magazines (such as Practical Classics).

G'luck!

Yep I had seen those, however it would be nice for the rear to be a bugeye as well. In fact I have done it before so think I will just restore one. At the moment there is a mess on ebay, less seats, etc. But if I can get it at the right price it would do just fine. I note a bit of body work, ie panel replacement but not a lot from the pics, we will see. If the guy ever calls me I think I will drive out and take a look.

Jack,
Welcome to the group! Bugeye's seem to sell for a
premium these days. Its hard to find a decent one for
under $4,000 anymore. Be patient and you'll be rewarded.
I'd been looking for a project Bugeye for years, and
finally found one a few miles from my place. $100, and
the seller loaded it for me!!! It'd been sitting in a
field, uncovered, for 7+ years and many would consider
it a parts car. Its about 80% restored now, and I hope
to have it on the road this summer. Inexpensive cars
are still out there.
