Another 100M

“D Healey for ‘Le Mans.’”

Haven't heard that one. Reid?

No, but it apparently indicates that it's to be sent to the Donald Healey Motor Company for the conversion. A nice additional historical note. Such unique notes are relatively rare. My 100M, 231111, is not far in date of production from this one, and yet there are no "personalized" notes on the job card; just the usual "Louvered bonnet" notation. I guess it depended to some degree on who was on duty filling out the cards.

The car looks spectacular. White over black is the most common color scheme for the 100M, by the way; not the Healey Blue over white that seems to have attracted more attention and photography.

Is the reason it received NOS camshaft and pistons the fact that the crankshaft broke?

The engine bay is correct. The whole car is painted the body colour then the side colour is added. These were standard production cars that were sent to the DHMC for their 'minor modifications' that are now apparently worth $100,000 extra.:devilgrin:

Read a reputable source years ago that claimed some of the white/black Ms were painted black--including chassis--from the scuttle forward. Bought a photo set of a supposedly concours resto of a white/black M, and they painted everything black forward of the scuttle (inclusive). Our factory M's engine bay was black; I always assumed it had been repainted but in hindsight there was no evidence of it. If I'd know all this I would have painted my car that way--if my dad didn't oppose it; it's a bit more work.

I am just basing this off a couple BN2 Austin Healeys that I own both white over black One is a factory M and the other is a regular BN2 and both engine bays are/were painted black and the black stopped just past the transmission and appears to be done before the engine was installed as black paint is under the motor mounts

Looks like it sold for $219,900! Never mind, that's what he was asking. My bad
