"A Canterbury Tale", a 1944 British movie of four people toward the end of the War, on a trip to Canterbury Cathedral. Their story loosely parallels one of the stories of Chaucer's Canterbury Tales.

Lots of scenes of WW2 English village life, including farming, blacksmith, wood working, and pubs.
Also interesting, in the "prologue", a 14th century man on horseback releases a falcon into the air. As it circles upward, it turns into a Spitfire; reminds me of the "bone into space station" scene in 2001. As the Spitfire flies toward us, we see barrage balloons in the sky over Canterbury Cathedral.
I rented it from Netflix, but it's also on YouTube, etc.
