YAKUTSK Russia, Coldest city on earth. -50 to -58 degrees! Talk about some tough people. :encouragement:

I enjoy the seasonal change but that's too much for me!

I bet they sell a lot of starter fluid and jumper cables there! (if they even shut their cars off in the Winter)

Just a kid, I was up in Gloversville NY back in 1957 with my 1948 Plymouth. Got up the next morning, went out to start the car and it was like someone welded the crankshaft to the block! It was 40 below and so dry, I didn't even feel the cold for a few minutes. They had to tow it to a garage, put heat on the pan to get it to turn over. Plymouth's were known for being temperamental anyway, but not that bad. That's the coldest I've ever been. PJ

As a kid I lived in the San Luis valley in CO about 9,000 feet up. My dad owned a 57 IH 3/4 ton four wheel drive panel truck we used when we went out to cut fire wood. When it would get down around 10 or so below he would build a small fire under the oil pan to warm the engine up before starting it.

OK, Im not complaining! But it's been snowing here for 3 hours now. Looking out the kitchen window, I can hardly see the end of the lane. Sure is pretty, especially since I have no where to go and wouldn't go if I did! :highly_amused: PJ

When I was a teen my father had a Javelin, didnt' have to get anywhere near that cold for that thing to stop running. Once below freezing odds were it wouldn't start, no matter what brand or grade of gas. Car didn't last long in his possession.
