An up-date -- 1958 AH 100-6 Frame Off

Just thought I would throw an update...

The BN4 is now RUNNING... After fighting grounding problems, timing issues, and carburettor adjustments....

This puppy fires off and idles SOOOO sweet.....

A query, however... The engine is a total rebuild... I have an oil pressure gauge of dubious condition that shows 20 psi at idle. It increases with the RPM but I don't yet have the tach connected sooo, I can't tell you what the RPMs are.... What oil pressure should I expect on this car at this stage??? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Thanks

Re: An up-date -- 1958 AH 100-6 Frame Off

By the by... a new oil pump was installed. I am hoping, since it has been a while since I have done a TOTAL rebuild, that the rod and crank bearings need to seat before the pressure rises to normal...

Thanks

Randy...

No, I did not... good suggestion... I imagine that the relief valve will provide some backpressure when operating correctly and, when not, could be bleeding some of the pressure... I will take a look... Thanks

Randy... Actualllyyy.... It doesn't have one, does it??

Moss shows one and doesn't distinguish between early and late cars. Should be on the passenger's side there somewhere as I remember. I know I replaced the spring and valve on a BJ8 many years ago and it made a difference.

Hi Ronzet,on a freshly rebuilt engine you should see about 40 PSI oil pressure if the guage and the build were correct.--Fwiw--Keoke

So, OK... maybe the gauge was filled with gunk... 39 psi at idle.... Exhaust intalled... beeeeutiful

Thanks
