This is something of a repeat post but I MUST sing the praises of BCF and Dan aka Tinman58!
Back in the summer time - remember when it was warm? - Dan posted about spats he had made for his TR3. My brother has a 3 and had mentioned that he would like to have spats IF he could ever find them. I contacted Dan and said I'd like a set for my brother. Dan replied and said I was third on the list.
Then in early fall, Dan contacted me again to see if I still wanted the spats for my brother and of course I said yes. Dan said he would be able to have them to my brother in time for Christmas. Then the first week of December, Dan sent me a message saying the spats would arrive sometime that week - he was generous enough to send them directly to my brother's home.
At this point only Dan and I knew of the plans but it was time to include my brother's wife. I contacted her to say a mystery package would be arriving and it wasn't to be opened until Dec 25. I didn't tell her WHAT was in it...if she didn't know, she couldn't tell!! :laugh:
Well, Dec 25th came and the surprise was a HUGE success!! My brother is stunned by the quality of Dan's work!! He says the spats fit PERFECTLY and he can't wait to get them mounted!! Pctures will be coming in the near future... :laugh:
MAJOR PLUG for Dan - if you've even remotely been thinking about spats for YOUR TR3, etc. do NOT hesitate to contact Dan and order a set! Opportunities like this rarely come along so get while the getting is good!! Dan is a superior craftsman and his work is second to none!! Perhaps Dan might even be talked into other hard to come by parts....like a metal tonneau cover for a TR3.....or......?
And of course...NONE of this would have happened WITHOUT the BCF! What an amazing resource this site is! We are SO lucky to have it available to use!! Thank you Basil and thank you Dan!!
