I was volunteering at the new museum in Allentown yesterday and since it was the media preview day, I had time to take a few personal photos of the displays. The official opening is April 12 when admission is free. I will be working the North Gallery all that day. It includes the really old cars and the alternate fuel vehicles.

It is worth visiting if you are in the area.

I hope to make it there this Summer (I'm 25 miles east of the Water Gap, so not too far).

It's interesting that they have a GM EV1. I thought that GM took all of those back?

Yes, although I am delighted to see this survivor, in the film, "who killed the electric car", it had been suggested that all but one EV1 had been crushed.

Is this a real one? Have you looked under the hood?

Thanks,

Frank

So far, as far as I have been able to find, four were kept for experimental reasons and loaned to Universities. Some of the drivetrain was supposedly removed in advance, but I do not know so far what is urban legend and what is fact. I will be working that Gallery Saturday afternoon, so maybe I can gain some more information at that time. But I must say I was "shocked" when I first saw the car there. It is listed as authentic and I so far have no reason to doubt it.

Dave - I've got some extra space here, when that XK120 is no longer a popular attraction ...

I think for a 120 I'd clear out the living room...
