I need some tilt sensors for my garage doors. Amazon has them for $26.99 ea. After reviewing the specs to make sure they were compatible, I placed two of them in my shopping cart. As soon as I put them in the cart, the price changed to $29.99. I went back to the product page and sure enough, the current price was $29.99.
Luckily, I had showed them to my wife just five mins before I ordered them. I asked her "how much were those door sensors that I showed you on Amazon?".
She immediately told me "$26.99"..... she saw it too!
What gives with this price change once you put them in the cart?
No, I'm not going to fight Amazon for the $6 but it stinks

Since it's all electronic, dynamic pricing is so easy for those doing the selling.
True, but when the price is displayed and you click add to cart at that point the price should not change.

"should" is the operative word here.

We should all live following the Golden Rule.

yep

And remember, companies of any larger size are run by money managers, the bean counters, who want to maximize income and push costs to as close to zero as possible. So dynamic pricing and using a bump in things that are popular when demand is high optimizes the incomes part.

Ah yes - the money manager of M&A, buy up smaller companies, strangle them, cut services, then sell to other guys with money. The sad fate of many nursing homes these days.
