The Amazon packaging I've received (so far) has been "appropriately sized" in most cases. But some have been in "bubble pack" envelopes offering what I'd call somewhat less-than damage proof protection.
I guess it depends on the distribution center it comes from.
I haven't received anything that extreme but I have gotten a few that were in rather oversized boxes. I have also gotten a few things in this bubble pack envelopes that shouldn't have been in one.
I'd settle for the local Amazon contract delivery drivers learning to read the house numbers. I've had several that they've left at my door instead of next door, despite the number of the house being posted right above where they've been leaving them.
What convinced me first was they recently increased their membership fees.
Then I sent a return in and they put the return into an Amazon account that I could not find.
Then it took them ten days after they received the item to process the return payment.
I don't make enough purchases to get enough free shipping for it to make sense.
Lastly, I'm finding better prices form other sources.
