I just spent a couple of hours cleaning tar out of the engine bay. This is the tar/sealer they put on at the factory. I then moved to the cockpit. I used the heat gun to get rid of some of the worst before going at it with the solvent. I'm trying to get the car ready to take to the body shop. My body guy said that all I should do is paint the floor with anti rust paint and leave it at that. Bear in mind that I don't care about concours but I want it nice too. Anyway, as I took off the tar, I realized it is all on joints. So, here is my question. Am I just making problems? Should I just paint over it and be done since no one will see it anyway? Or, should I strip out the tar? And, if I do strip the tar, do I reseal the joints? Help! On the plus side, I went to the British Car show in Winter Park FL today (Orlando) It was wonderful, I was inspired, no spridgets though.
