Although I'm primarily an "Austin-Healey guy," I also own a 1994 Jaguar XJS 4.0 Convertible. I bought it a bit over two years ago, and it has been so reliable that I'm beginning to think it isn't British!

Not Necessarily. A lot depends upon how the previous owner(s) maintained the car. If you perform regular scheduled maintenance, bleed the brakes to expel moisture from the brakes every two years (each year is better), like any machine that is maintained well, your car will respond with few problems.

But the XJS is a machine with a lot of electronic systems that are prone to developing problems, if for no other reason than there are a number of sensors, wires and ECUs that are subjected to heat and vibration, and sometimes moisture. Electronic componants are not fond of that. "Sorting out the kinks" can be, time consuming, frustrating and expensive. But when Jags are running right, they are sweet indeed!
 
Hi Reid! I think part of the answer may be that you have a relatively newer Jag. The quality control had improved by then. Back in the 70's and 80's Jaguar's quality was an oxymoron! By the way, have you posted either of your cars in our members gallery? (Just make sure they are JPGs and not bigger than 640 x 480)
