Always something - acceleration question

Four times in the last 125 miles I have had the same thing happen. Three times I was accelerating away from a light and got into about 3500-4000 rpm, and the car hesitated, I pushed the gas, it stumbled slightly and continued accelerating. The fourth time it happened on the highway, higher speed but same symptom. In every case, as soon as the car picks up and runs fine again, I get a strong smell of raw gas. The car isn't backfiring or misfiring as far as I can tell. It seems as though it is getting too much gas for an instant and then all is fine again. thoughts anyone?

damper oil?

Being in Canada I doubt it is gas/vapor from heat.
Fuel filter show progress worse as rpms increase
Same thing with fuel pump

Not a genius so just guessing. Distributor advance, vacuum leak ??

I'm wondering distributer advance too. In terms of vacuum leak, how tight on the dizzy does the line need to be? It's on and it stays but it isn't tight by any means.

Stuck float possibly. Advance won't give you a gas smell. DGV, right?

Sticking float, check the swivel pins.

Anyway open em up and check em out.

wondering about that - the carb is just rebuilt, but will check anyway.
