Aluminum Radiator

Hello,

Seems to be lots of discussion about the pros and cons of aluminum radiators. I love the look and want to order one. Besides my rad was recored 25 years ago. I have done some searching but not much comes up. Does anyone have a company they would recommend.

As a side note, my car has never had a engine cooling problem, during the winter i broke the 6 bladed fan so I decided to try a Moss electric fan unit. The fan unit looks clean seems to work great in the cool weather but once the temperature approaches 80 ish the electric fan will not keep up to cooling. The fan is a pusher because not enough room to put it on the back of the rad. The cooling issue is disappointing as it looks good and I spent hours making brackets for it. So today I am driving to my LBC store and picking up a new 6 bladed fan. Spoke to a radiator guy he told me on the midget /sprite the electric fan will not work well as a pusher needs to be a puller but no room for that.
Any thoughts
Phil

You might have issues other than the radiator affecting the cooling.
Ron Davis radiators is always a safe bet.

Phil;

If need be, I can get you the name of a fellow in London On.who makes custom built aluminum rads.
You might try two small pusher fans for your rad also.
If you are only using it for summer use, I can tell you a thermostat trick for keeping temps up but not as restricted.

Hope this helps.

P.S. I do some work at home for fellow enthusiasts. You are only about an hour from me.

Hello Dave

Can you send me the rad guys info, would like to give him a call. I do 100% of all my own work, the car works great with the standard fan just wanted an electric to be exotic.

Thanks Phil

There is a map available on Mapquest and they are very easy to get to.

Hope this helps.

Thanks guys for the info.
I must make an confession. I took the motor out 5 weeks ago, i had the electric fan in then and working perfectly, temps were only in the 60s and hitting 70 briefly, no cooling problems. I had soldered the fan wires and shrink wrapped them. So when I removed the rad again I cut the wires and re-soldered them in when i replaced the rad. I reversed the wires so the fan blew nice air out the nose. How dumb can I be, I double checked the fan during the initial fitting, oh well better not give up my day job.
Still going to purchase an alum rad will post when i get one.

Cheers
Humble phil
