I have a question for you electrical types. I just finished machining the mounts for the alternator on my BT 7 it is a 60 amp Nippondenso with 3 wires (ignition, sense and light). What do you do with the Lucas voltage regulator and whats the best way to wire it up. I will run the large hot wire to the starter solenoid and charge back to the battery with that. Thanks Skip
 
HI Skip, The old RB340 box is generally gutted and retained as a junction Box only. Since a hot wire to the starter solenoid is already connected to its terminals you can connect the alternator's hot wire there for the charge circuit. The rest is up to you.-FWIW---Keoke
 
Basic alternator from generator wiring is to take the brown, brown/blue, and brown/yellow heavy wires and connect them all together. You can use the gutted regulator as a junction box or just solder them together and eliminate the regulator.
Use the old generator feild wire and connect that to the thinner brown/yellow wire to work the ignition light.
Again at the regulator or just connected together.
The ground wire from the regulator is no longer neccessary.

If you keep the regulator, terminals A1, A, & D get connected together.
Terminal F holds the brown/green and brown/yellow which will work the ignition light from the alternator.
Terminal E can still hold the ground wire for looks.
