Ok I cant catch a break and the alternator will not line up. Did I buy the wrong bracket? The lineup is close but no matter how much adjust the bracket I can not get it to line up correctly.

If you got the bracket from Moss, SENT IT BACK. The one that I got did not line up and one other person here in Seattle also got one that was out of line. You will have to use the old bracket and a long bolt with a spacer.

ACK. Not what I wanted to hear. Unfortunately I don't have a stock setup as the DPO had a Picasso to redneck engineering and booger welds and somehow mounted a unknown alternator upside down from the stock setup. Guess I have another reason to yell at moss tomarrow.

You'll get more with sugar than with salt.

Be nice, explain the problem, don't lose your cool or your temper (it wan't the fault of the order taker!)....ask for a supervisor if you don't get through to the first employee....they'll make it right for you.

It's more than just a faulty part or the order takers. I've had some real issues with the last few orders I've placed with them and a bunch of non returned phone calls. I don't know whats up with them as up untill the last month they have been nothing short of fantastic.

that's why I never buy directly from Moss. I use Tony when he's available or a local guy when he's not. They seem to get better service

I hate it when they don't tell you "we've had a problem with these". Figure they'd do right by ya but nahh lets sell it to them anyway.

If it was Tr parts, I'd say the guys from TRF moved over to Moss. Course, that was a few years ago, when I had the same kind of disconnection(other than them wanting my money) regarding improper parts.

Stewart - I had the same problem with the bracket from Moss when I put an alternator in our daughter's car. I used a rat tail file to elongate the hole to make everything fit. If I remember correctly, the hole is too small for the bolt anyway. Bottom line - the bracket is junk!
Cheers,

Seems like a rather easy fix. Braze or weld the hole shut.

Drill a new one in the right place the right size.

Next project please.

The point is, Jack, you shouldn't have to modify new parts to make them work. The supplier, and I don't care where it came from, needs to be informed that they are selling an improper part.

Oh do not disagree with that at all Jeff.

Clutch and stuff this week according to Tony.

Guess I will do a bit more cleaning on the engine room.

I spoke personally with an influential Moss representative about this....

Originally these fitted just fine, but it looks like the quality went down hill. There is one other manufacturer in the UK and we have asked for samples to be shipped to us so we can make sure they fit. I do have original samples to compare with and we will change vendor if we find the samples to be suitable. If not, we will look at doing a production run ourselves.

Just an FYI....Moss does indeed listen...if they are made aware of the problem.

I've found that Moss will do everything in it's power to make a part right. If they are selling a part that doesn't fit the way it should or defective in another way, they will be happy to replace it at no cost to the consumer. They will research the defective part and look for another supplier if one is available. Most recently, look at all the work they have done finding a windshield manufacture that makes one that fits. Ever try to deal with those people at Vic. Brit? I can't understand half of them. And they know very little about cars. What a joke. I've sent back about 20 percent of everything I've bought there. I'll stick with Moss and it's distributors. JMHO. PJ
