TR2/3/3A Alternator dial runs high

Just replaced the alternator because it was running high at higher RPMs, but there is no change. Still running at +30 at anything more than 2500 RPMs. It returns to zero at idle. Makes no difference if the regular lights, fog lights, radio or anything else is on. Would appreciate any advice.

Check your voltage coming out of the alternator at 2500rpm. It should remain steady and not increase with RPM over about 1000.

Are you sure the battery isn't just discharged? At 30 amps, it can take over an hour at speed to fully recharge, even if it still had enough to crank the engine in the first place.

My guess would be that your alternator uses a sense input to the regulator and it isn't connected somehow.
But for sure, check the battery first.
