Alternator conversion pulley question

Background: I am putting a 1275 engine in my Bugeye. In converting to an alternator there is a mismatch between the alternator pulley and the waterpump pulley. The waterpump pulley is the early 1275 with a single grove and is mated up to a yellow six bladed fan. The alternator pulley grove is about 1/2 inch further forward than the waterpump pulley. Maybe just under 1/2 inch. The alternator we bought is a Bosch AL298X and is supposed to be the correct one. Has anyone had this problem and if so, what is the fix? Oh yes, the alternator bracket is the Spridget 1275 alternator bracket, not a generator bracket.
Thanks,
Charlie

Shim it out. I had to use 6 (or so) washers on each fan bolt to bring it out to the alt pully. It gets real close to the radiator, but obviously does not touch.

Use Grade # 5 (high strength) bolts to secure your alt. I didn't and snapped it.
