Alternate Alternator

Need your input.
My 1984 starlet nippon denso alternator gave up the ghost yesterday 25 years not bad.
So I need to find a new unit for my bugeye and I've seen some of the guys in our club using little 40 amp denso single wire units on hot rods and such. This should be enough for a bugeye no?
Only thing thats not stock as far as an additonal load is a set of halogen head lamps thru a relay harness.

I'm not a big fan of single wire units. They do not always compensate well for voltage drops like the multiple wire units that are tied into the ignition side. But sure, 40 amps should be enough. I run 36 amps and halogen lights.
