I was wondering how these rate?

I need to replace the entire interier but I am thinking about just doing the door panels right now and waiting until next year to the the rest of the interier.

I was wondering how good these are or if I should just buy the door panels now and source out everything else later.

As with anything else related to our cars, the answer depends on what your goals are.

I bought the tan interior kit from VB, and I am happy with the quality of it - but then I'm building a daily driver, not a concourse queen. It may even be that the major US suppliers get their parts from the same source, someone else would have to answer that.

On the other hand, I spent extra to get the Magic Carpet set from TRF - not the wool, but the nylon set, which is very nice as well.

Well prices won't get any cheaper next year. For a while you could get pretty good prices from Prestige in the UK, but I suspect their prices are now up too.

Try Heritage...nice stuff and cheaper shipping than from British suppliers...

You better be sure you can order the rest of pieces. I know you can order door panels seperate, but do they sell the other pieces you will need seperate, and for how much more than all together in the kit?

I just got the VB winter special catalog and have the same question about the quality of their door panels and their upholstery kits. I need both and the price is right. For a 73 TR6 they are 99.95 and 279.95. Phil

My interior kit is from Magic Carpet (TRF) and the fit is good. I have found that the rear panels have started to separate from the underlying board or cardboard material, and sag. Not a pretty sight. I did have to replace a carpet piece because of a burn a while back and they were nice enough to source out one piece for me. Not particularly cheap but I needed it to match.
The secret to any interior installation is to spend a great deal of time installing it and placing a lot of attention to the details, especially the gluing process. I used a spray glue (3M). Take your time and the results will be professional looking. And whatever you do, do not be tempted to permanently glue your front carpet set down. These were all designed to snap in for a reason. The car will get wet on the inside and will rot the floor. Check out my new floorboards, all caused by my on stupidity.

I think that a lot depends on what color you are going to do the interior in. On my TR3 resto, I'm putting in a red leather interior, so I wanted to get all of the interior items from one source at one time. I figured that the color match on the various pieces...the seats, panels and leather for the dash and cappings would be very close. This proved to be the case. If I just bought some of the pieces now, and some later, I don't think the color match would be as close. Of course, if it's black, the match would most likely be fine no matter how you broke up the purchases.

I am looking at Prestige because they add some components that are not included in others. I asked for and received a sample card within a week from them and the quailty looks very good compared to others. Heritage looks to be the higher quality and their samples and literature was a well done kit. However, Heritiage prices are higher due to their quality. Especially the Leather. Bottom line, I will place an order with Prestige once I settle on the right color.
Thanks.

Is the leather worth it? I am sure it is nice out of the box but what about weathering?
A British car should smell like a British car...and that means leather...there's nothing like it. And, when the leather gets a little old and weathered, getting in the seat is like putting on your favorite pair of old shoes...nothing feels better.

Agree!
The leather seats in my TR4 were far superior to the vinyl in my TR6.
