I found this visitor on my deck this afternoon... Mr. Cicada
Just had to get a photo of him (her?)

Hey, I grew up in Frederick, and I remember those little buggers. We collected the empty exoskeletons by the hundreds.

I had a dachshund that would kill them. He 'd catch them, and they'd start making a loud buzzing noise, only interrupted by the crunching sound of his teeth until the buzzing became intermittent and then silent. Crazy little dog. He used to try to chase whitetail deer as well.

I'm just east and a bit south of Frederick, in Damascus. My wife is a Frederick native, though, and I know the town far better than I ever thought I would. There's a pretty close knit LBC Club there as well - Clustered Spires British Car Club.

Is Brewers Alley still there?

I know the Damascus area reasonably well. Although I grew up right in Frederick (near Culler Lake), my parents moved to Ijamsville after I moved away, and my sister lives in Mt Airy. I used to get back to that area pretty regularly, but less so now. I've seen your Sprite parked in the road in New Market before you bought it.

I don't miss the constant drone of the cicadas (we called them locusts back then) all summer, and I don't know if Brewer's Alley is still there. It was founded well after I moved away, but I've been there once or twice when visiting.

Brewers Alley is still there. And, yes, my Sprite was parked along the main drag through New Market when it was owned by Longbridgehealey. That's how I first noticed it with the "For Sale" sign on it early last summer, as my parents live in the retirement community at the north end of Mussetter Road. You'll occasionally see his '59 BE and his '57 Big Healey parked out front these days, but most of the time they're back in the garage.

Where'd you go to high school, Keith? My wife went to Liganore and graduated in '89. My father-in-law was the sports editor for the Frederick News-Post for over 40 years, having retired a couple of years ago.

Enjoy. I think you will like it.

Saxman, PM sent.

Don, have one for me. I prefer a well-hopped pale ale.

Keith- Had a light ale.
I prefer Pilsners and theirs wasn't available.
I had a Kolshe(?)
Was expecting a larger selection

I haven't been there in years, so I had to visit the website. It looks like a good choice; wish I could have enjoyed one with you.
