Anybody know of a US source for Alfin rear drums for a TR6? I saw them in Roger Williams' book on restoring the TR250/6, and would love a pair on my 6. The only place I've found them so far is in Cambridge England. I'd rather source them here in the US if possible, but haven't seen them in any of the big 3 vendor catalogs. I don't know if they offer any significant braking improvement over stock (probably not much), but they sure look cool.
Any thoughts?

From what I've been told, they actually don't brake as well as stock drums; the steel/aluminum interface reduces heat transfer. The main schtick is reduced unsprung weight.

I have a set on my TR4 - can't say I notice a performance difference pro or con. Maybe on the track you'd see something, for me it was purely to increase the bling factor and take advantage of a cheap deal that came my way.

If you don't mind some machine shop costs, finned Datsun 240Z drums can be modified to work. I believe my drums are from Bastuck in Germany who have about the best price except for the shipping hit.

Unless they've changed in the past 2 years, the TRF drums were from Brembo.

Just to clarify, I didn't buy from TRF so my bet is they still carry the brand Bob shows.

That probably explains the price. I got 240Z drums at my FLAPS for about $50 each, but never finished machining them to fit a TR3A.
 
Thanks guys. I'll check out TRF. My catalog is mixed up and missing about 25 pages, including the one that has those drums on it. Have to order a new one of those, too.

I saw a set of <span style="font-weight: bold">real</span> Alfins selling on Ebay for about 2 grand. Mine are the TRF <span style="font-weight: bold">Al</span>uminum <span style="font-weight: bold">fin</span>ned drums. I painted them Brosky-yellow to match my front calipers for the bling factor.
 
You always did have a lot of class as well as good taste Bill. The louvers and yellow drums just prove my point.

Man, I love those louvers. I never thought about painting the drums. Now that I have the Konigs, you can see them so.....maybe when I get it out of the garage....
