Alfa Spider fuel pump problem...

Offline
First I'd like to thank Doc for sending me a fuel pump to try out... It was DOA, (I installed it before bench testing it) but it did allow me to find the culprit (I think) that won't let my engine get over 3000rpm (even lower under load)...

A really mushy, extra long, spongy, soft rubber fuel hose coming from a hardline extending from the gas tank (that should reach just to the fuel pump), and wrapped loosely in a horizontal circle - completely around the fuel pump.

It's soft enought to compress with very little pressure... I'm guessing that the fuel draw from the pump is compressing this hose and restricting the amount of fuel that is allowed to go through it.

BTW, gasoline burns (chemically) on contact with skin! Just in case anyone didn't know. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I hope to loose this hunk of useless hose this weekend (after I drain the gas tank /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif)...and I hope that fixes my problem. I'll let ya'll know. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif

eeep. Well I s'pose you needed a shiny wheel chock anyhoo. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/jester.gif
