Took this picture at our Time Trial / Race School last Saturday. We also had a Factory Five Cobra, a nice vintage-racer MGB, plus the two usual Spridgets and the Mini.
This Elan rolled at Summit last year and was hit hard by another car two years ago at this event. Poor thing.
The ALFA is a 2-liter and quite fast. We had an ALFA coupe as well.
We're starting to get enough Brit-cars at our EMRA events that the Honda guys are calling us "The British Car Posse". /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Heh, thought there might be some Alfa fans here! 80 Spyder here, Did the 78 have the "strange" fuel injection? Mine did,but no longer.

Doc's a full-on sidedraft weber guy. Mine has regular Bosch indijestion much like most modern cars /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/jester.gif The strange one is called Spica. It's more like diesel injection, but way more complicated. Works well when it's working (or so I've read) though.

Great picture. I've always been a fan of the body-roll pictures. This one shows that even race-prepped cars that handle like they're on rails still can compress the springs!!!

Actually, It's worse than that! Sometime in the late 70's (not sure when?) they began puttin in an 'Odd' Spica! The Spicas from 69 to whenever were bullet proof, NO, really! then for some reason they began building another version. I have one (off the car) the Pump - injectors and most other parts were the same but they put a huge round plenum with a throttle body type air intake on them, and no way to set the idle (or much else) unless you drilled out some plugs!
I now have a more 'normal' Spica system from a '75 Alfetta (another oddity IMHO). Amazing really what these folks can get up to sometimes.

I acquired the Spider for stupid money 'cause the kid who owned it was broke and mechanically inept. The Spica pump was worn to the point where it would vapour-lock after fifteen minutes of run time, 6 or 60 MPH. I had a good spare, but here (Florida) the emissions testing was "abandoned" so I screwed together a 1750 cc I had lyin' about, mounted a set of DCOE's on 'er and: "To Infinity and BEYOND!!"

The SPICA pumps are reliable as a house brick if they're maintained. But I'm Old School: "The Bark of the Webers" is music to my old tin ears. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Thanks KP, I have been thinking about doing something for Alfas, but just have'nt had the time.
The filter site is not "offically" up yet, I am still adding/changing pages. I have mainly been catering to Volvo folks (I am a fan of these also) but an SU is an SU so at some point I plan to produce some for British autos, no doubt I will put up an ad here to try and flog some.
Attached is a photo of a custom engraved one for a 123GT owner I did yesterday.

Oh, and make sure it's OK with Basil before you tout the warez! I've seen more "poof-be-gone" ads in the past month than I have in a while. Just PM him first, I'm sure he wouldn't mind creating a nice link to your site even... But I'm not him... Best to ask first.

Nice design too. I used to run Uni filters on my ATVs, but had to run a sock (prefilter) over them, as they tended to eat some fine sand sometimes. Not too many off-road LBCs though.

Actually the filter that it came with (my SU), I figured it for a take apart thing, until I tried to take it apart... It's now sitting on the front porch rusting nicely. I was gonna take it apart and try to straighten the bends in it, then paint it to match the MG.... Yeller n black. Oh well... Heh! You take em apart with a torch, Really! grab the can with pliers and heat the upper sheet metal (stay away from the element, old ones can be VERY flammable! LOL) as evenly as possible and the bottom, including the element will fall off by gravity ... do this out of doors!!! Rinse and Repeat. Most [but not all] are glued together and will come away very cleanly. Ready for paint (bead blast) and a new element, I recomend the Fram CA 5029, for 6" cans a nearly perfect fit, hard to get but used on a Lister industrial engine of about 50 cu.in. capicity.
Rest assured, when I say I will take out an ad, I mean a real one, that supports the site, as I have told Basil. For the MG I was thinking about a 'dished' area much like the volvo in the earlier thread but in an octagon shape with a engraved outline and the MG octagon shaped script in the middle. Any suggestions are welcomed.
And, YOU will get a special deal if you order a Pinky and the Brain 'custom' when I get running, cause they are way cool. A cartoon for our times!
