Nice video... very stylish.

Elliot, Thanks for sharing that video with us. We would have been there if my son didn't sell his glider, as he was invited to do his performance there. Maybe next year, as he has this now. PJ

Great video.

WOOHOO!!! That was stellar.

It is very pleasing to see all the old "warbirds" still goin' too.

Is this a Lockheed PV-2 (Harpoon) on the right?

With the twin tail, it certainly looks like it to me doc. Did you notice the Terrafugia flying car in the video?

Yeah, just seems impractical to me. I like this one better:

Yeah, but this one can drive to grandma's house for dinner....

Reminds me of the Disney cartoon character "Stitch!"

That's a B-25 Mitchell.

There was a wonderful PV-2 at Oshkosh that won Best Bomber. Taigh Ramey has restored it to a 1945 standard, down to the radios, radar and other gear. If you head over to the Warbird Information Exchange forum https://www.warbirdinformationexchange.org/phpBB3/index.php you can see pictures of the PV-2's transformation from ex-Air Tanker collecting dust to a prize winning restoration

I was going to comment on that but Saxman beat me to it!:friendly_wink: I flew right seat in one a few times. Easy to fly, very docile, but noisy as all get out! PJ

This is going to have a tough row to hoe! Even though it's a real neat idea and as I understand it's well built, it has to pass State and Federal highway safety regulations. The frontal crash test, which it has to pass will probably be it's downfall. You can't ad air bags, re enforcements for impact without adding a lot of extra weight. I have no idea how they will get around this. Just sayin. PJ

I wonder if they had conventional tricycle landing gear if it would be considered a motorcycle once on the road since it wouldn't have four wheels. Wonder if they could get around the strict automotive requirements that way?

I don't know Elliot, that could be a possibility. Surly there is a lot of three wheel trikes around and their getting more popular with the front or rear single wheel. For landing though, I would say it would have to be re designed with two wheels on the rear as a conventional tri gear aircraft. Quite a few small foreign vehicles were designed that way and were very successful. Even small pick up trucks. PJ

Now I see the dorsal turrett further forward. The rudders were deceptive, the video made 'em look more rounded on the tops.

Short exhaust stacks = REALLY loud. I haven't ridden in one, but from the ground the B-25 sure sounds louder on two engines than a B-17 on four engines.

Aloha all,

I just wandered into this thread from the Triumph Forum, and give an "Amen Bruddah" to SaxMan on Ramey's PV-2D restoration. An amazing transformation from abandoned fire-tanker (sunk in the dirt below the wheels) to Best Bomber in three years - WOW. I'm an airplane nut so I've been following it, but if you want to get the scope of the project, go to their first page here: https://warbirdinformationexchange.org/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=38160&start=1020 and then skip to the photos in the last few pages. They had to fix & fly it out of the grass strip it made a forced landing in 17 years before - the ultimate 'field car' restoration. While we're talking AirVenture, check out what is probably the only operable Coffman 'shotgun' starter in the world. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=65qrzgbTTcQ&feature=youtu.be Now that's authentic. (It won Reserve Grand Champion WWII and a Gold Wrench at this AirVenture) A great backstory on that aircraft and the 'wrench' that restored it. Now if I can only figure out how to adapt the Coffman to a TR6...
