Airplane - a parody of what?

Two really good movies! I think Airplane was also a satire on Airport (?).

But Airport didn't have a scene where a stewardess had to use the emergency tube to inflate the auto pilot ...

I know there were some definite Airport themes in there.

I surely wondered when someone would say that,.
 
I had heard that "Airplane!" borrowed heavily from "Zero Hour". I watched "Zero Hour" on Youtube. Could not keep a straight face, it was obviously heavily copied for "Airplane!", even though it wasn't a comedy.
