I witnessed Bob Hoover perform engine out (BOTH!) aerobatic maneuvers in a Shrike Commander many years ago at an air show. I just couldn't believe my eyes.
From 5:44 until the end of the video will see these same maneuvers.... just amazing!!
I met Bob and saw him fly his Shrike too. About 20 years ago at Sussex Airshow here in NJ.
Nice man and spectacular pilot.
I met Sean Tucker and the late Art Scholl too (I still have a signed poster from Art). Harrison Ford did his tailwheel checkout at our airport with the same guy who gave me mine, so I got to hang around with him a bit....very quiet and low key.
I saw Bob Hoover land his Shrike Commander at an air show with both engines out... on his approach to landing, his tail hit the wires on poles just outside the airport. He landed safely, but he was never invited back.
