Air Fuel Gauge

I have an LC-1 on my car. I got mine from here:

I don't have a gauge. I just use a laptop to monitor and log AFR.

My car is fuel injected, and the LC-1 is an indispensable tool for tuning. I would think unless you are doing some real custom stuff, like turning custom fuel needles or fitting DCOEs, it might be a bit of overkill.

If you are just planning on using stock adjustments on stock carbs, you probably could get away with something like this:

coupled with something like this:

But if you have some money burning a hole in your pocket, the LC-1 is one cool gadget.

Thanks for the post. My wife owns and rides a horse, so my thinking is I have 600.00 a month to spend on my LBC/ other hobbies, she thinks differently. Should I buy it probably not but it looks like a very cool yet useful gauge. I would like to modify some HIF44 needles, I now have 6 needles, still think my 1362 cc engine could run a little better. Still hoping to dyno my car sometime this year.

The LC1 is a good unit and crucial for tuning a custom engine like "Morris" and I have. The usual AFR sensors and gauges are close to useless due to poor range of sensitivity. If you want to perfect a custom filed needle, the LC1 will get you there. On my EFI-turbo 1275, the LC1 actually talks to the EFI computer and adjusts the fuel to keep the A/F ratio in the ranges I've set up in a table of RPM/manifold vac. stored in the control module.
It accomodates A/F ratios way above and below the 14.7:1 stoichiometric ratio. It lets me run up to 17:1 when coasting or decelerating and over 12:1 when boosting 10lbs near redline. Very nice toy!!
You can also weld additional bungs into your other cars and move it from one to the other to get them all happy.

I keep waiting for them to get a lot cheaper. Check Jegs and Summit. Sometimes they have them cheaper.
