air filter over ram pipe

Does anyone have an air filter over a ram pipe? My ram pipe is about 3" long and 3" in diameter. I was thinking I could get a tapered K&N with a 3" flange and attach it to the pipe (probably making the pipe thicker with some rubber material where it clamps on). It is not that easy to size the biggest one that will fit under the hood and next to the fender. I think 5" long, 4" small diameter will work.

Fairmounter, I just did a similar thing. But, I'm not sure of the measurement, think the outside of the velocity stack is 3" dia. You can see a picture of the setup if you go to this website and scroll about halfway down. These are mounted on short velocity stacks, not really pipes.

The filters are K&N RU4410. You might be able to contact K&N with your measurement to see if they have a filter that will fit your application.
Good luck.
