Ahh... Nice drive last night

I was checking on the air filters in the Honda, and found that they certainly had gotten dirty, but after fighting with the fine air filter housing just to get it open, I didn't feel like buttoning it back up to drive to the Honda dealer and take it apart again. But wait, the other car is roadworthy, it's not far to the Honda dealer, and it was nice (albeit a little cold) out.

Whatever was making the squealing last time didn't rear its ugly head. Maybe the belt is a little loose. Anyway, little car seemed to be zipping along the highway like it was happy to be out of the garage. It got some curious eyes at the Honda dealer, especially when I noticed the Insight looked huge next to it /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/lol.gif. Got the rather expensive engine air filter ($27 /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eek.gif), the two cabin air filters ($15 apiece), had a nice drive back, and the Honda is back together. Now for some warmer weather so I can put the top down! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif

That's great Dave! I was worried about the little car. I was thinking that was too many 1500's to be down all at once...lol. I'm sure that will draw some remarks. Anyway, sounds like you had a nice trip, mine is strewn all over the garage right now. Did take her for a nice 85mph buzz right before I yanked the engine. Figured I was going to be rebuilding it anyway right? She ran great, except that she left a smoke trail that looked like a battleship steaming across the Atlantic.

Good luck on yours, JC. Smoke trails are never a good thing, unless you're driving a modified Aston Martin and you're with British secret service. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif Hope your rebuild goes smoothly, and it looks like I have a little antifreeze leak to fix. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif

Thanks for the well wishes bud. I thought I had a little antifreeze leak too. Turned out the water pump was totally shot. When I went to take the fan off, the I noticed the pump shaft had about 1/8" play in it radially...lol. Wondered what that rubbing noise was. Oh well, an engine rebuild is a good time to replace the water pump anyway.
