Spitfire Aftermarket synchros 1500 Spit single rail

What's the deal with the aftermarket synchros being worse than the ones they are replacing? I just replaced all four because the 2/3 was grinding, now they all are grinding.
 
Not sure if it's the same problem, but there were a whole bunch of bad synchro rings on the market a few years ago for the 'big' Triumphs. Lots of theories as to what was wrong with them, but I don't think any of theories was proven.

Maybe you could find some NOS? (That's what I did for my TR3A.)
 
It's also a very fiddly process to get everything back together with all the clearances correct. If you go over to the spitfire squadron site and talk to Paul T over there, he has documented that whole procedure and why the new synchros have issues sometimes.
