Aftermarket swaybars?

Has anyone ADDED sway bars to Sprites? Results? My Bugeye remains mostly unmodified (948-drum brakes) and I don't relish the thought of drilling holes in control arms etc. But boy she LEANS on those onramps. Thoughts appreciated.

Doug, To answer your question, "Yes! Many people have added anti-sway bars to Sprites." My Bugeye has one and it really makes a big difference. I'll defer to the many parts suppliers for info on availability and price (see their ads in the club magazines or in Gary Anderson's excellent British Car Magazine). Believe me, it's worth it!

Thanks, Reid
What diameter swaybar did you install? The oem type for later Sprites is apparently pretty skinny, but is it effective?
By use of collective knowledge (experience) through this forum I "might" only have to buy/install one time!

A 9/16" diameter sway bar was stock on later Sprites. It works very well.
A 3/4" diameter works better and I would recommend that size for the spirited driver.
7/8" is also available but it get to a point where too much of a good thing gets to be "too much".
I had a 7/8, it was too much for normal street use, fine if the car is strictly a track car. I now run a 3/4" and I love it. Better than stock but not "too much".

I also run a 3/4" bar on my Sprite. The sway has made a world of difference since adding it. A highly recommended addition.

Done! Just got back from a "test loop" with the swaybar installed. I chickened out and only got the 9/16" bar (afraid to go too far from stock) but it corners like it's on rails! My P18575R13s were a little underinflated and I noticed that quick. After pumping up, the improvement was SUPER! Thanks to Reid, Spritenut, and healeymanca for the advise and moral support! And thanks Basil for the invaluable resource! Doug (it's Pacifico time)
