After 7 weeks, she's finally back home

Sorry I have to change the subject line

I had to change it - every time I saw the subject line, it depressed me. 7 weeks - bah humbug - mine has been in the shop for 7 months...

cool car btw. great job in the engine bay.

Re: Sorry I have to change the subject line

And I thought I had empty garage anxiety!!!

Seven months, still waiting and summers here??.....that's cruel and unusual punishment.

I won't complain anymore about time in the shop, but I'll bet yours will be worth it when it comes out.

Re: Sorry I have to change the subject line

Oh-oh. Decision time at the OK Corral!

My wife just told me that the carpet padding kit from TRF arrived today while I was out. Now do I tear it apart again, or wait until fall to do the Gunst replacement and new carpets all at once? I can't wait to drive it, so I guess that it will all sit in boxes for a few more months unless we get another week of solid rain.

Maybe I'd better get the roll bar on order just in case.

Re: Sorry I have to change the subject line

wait and do it in the winter.
drive the thing now while the weather is good...

Re: Sorry I have to change the subject line

Alan, are you back? How was the trip home? Did you get the parts you were after?

Bill

(not trying to hijack your thread, Paul. Yellow Triumphs always catch the eye. I like em better than red.

Paul, I noticed that you have the shiney door jamb plates that are screwed atop your rockers. Did you add these after the paint? These are nice but like anything nice they require attention. Like the body flexing will cause them to actually cut the paint and rust beneath. Not trying to rain on your parade but I had those for about 2 years, decided to look beneath them and broke my heart. Since my car is so retro, I just scuffed the area and coated it with bed liner coating till the eventual repaint)

'scuse me....Mimosa?

Re: Sorry I have to change the subject line

Definatly dive it Paul, you've waited enough already....interior is no big deal and you'll do a better job in the fall when your less rushed to drive it....Trust me fitting carpet can be a time consuming job.

Re: Sorry I have to change the subject line

Thanks for the tips on the carpet and kick plates. I'm going to order a roll bar and do the interior and clutch all at once so it doesn't have to come apart a second time.

As far as the plates go, I had them on prior to the painting and when we took them off to prep the door frame and there was no sign of the scuffing yet. BUT, I said yet, because I only had about 1,500 miles on the car with them on, which may not be sufficient mileage to show the wear.

Re: Sorry I have to change the subject line

Bill,

I'm back. Trip was miserable - it was 90deg in the UK and they still haven't got their heads around the concept of a/c. Got the parts. I'll mount them when the car comes home.

btw: I thoroughly recommend Tex for anyone thinking of buying stuff from them. Truly excellent customer service, and all for a $120 order.

Now back to Pauls fine auto...
Paul - can you spray the back side of the plates with something rubber to stop them rubbing. Just a thought...

Re: Sorry I have to change the subject line

Alan, thanks for the tip. Those little buggers are sharp as a razor on the edges.

"Still no LBC here at the shack.
Mechanic is nearly as tired of having it as I am of not...
Ugggh"

My LBC's last days in the body shop were about the same. They wanted it out as bad as I wanted it back. They were actually more worried about someone scratching or denting it than anything else. And somewhere in all of this, I did pick up a dent in one of the doors. Years ago, I would have been upset. Now getting a bit more senile and soft, I chalk it up to experience and having a car out of my control. I'm not entering any concours events and it can be fixed when it gets cold.
