Spitfire Advice on Muffler for 69 Spit

I have a 69 Spit with a 1500 engine in it, and a EU manifold/header from quantumechanics.com. I was planning on using the stock pipe back to the rear muffler. I need to replace the rear muffler. I only drive it under 1k miles a year, and was not going to go stainless, etc. Any suggestions for an inexpensive muffler that will bolt in? So far the ones I've seen from typical british car parts sources are over a hundred dollars.

Go to Summit or Jegs and look for a small ,thin one that fill be the pipe diameter you need. There's the rub. Hard to find that size.
A muffler shop will get one for you.

I don't know the layout for a Spit, but I have an old Harley muffler on my Midget 1500 and love it. Cheap, if not free in some cases and chrome!

I dunno, can you get ordinary stock mufflers anymore?

Flow pretty good, and are quiet.

Have the Monza on mine and while I like the boy racer look of the four pipes, the sound of a severe gastro intestinal problem gets on my nerves after a few minutes at highway speeds. It's more or less an open pipe.

stick with a stock muffler.

Where was this post last week? I just tossed an almost new stock 1500 muffler :frown:
