TR2/3/3A Advice on inner wing removal TR3B

Both inner wings are badly patched. Left side was rewelded on and not correctly so it is out of square to the chassis. I can get some replacements used cheap but not sure what year they are - owner is out of state and not one to take photos etc. will be able to see them after I am taking tub/chassis in to have inner sills changed out, as am taking a trip out. Body guy suggests I go ahead and remove them now. Questions are

1. Roger Williams book shows cutting inner wings out by cutting right thru firewall and all. Leaving a hole to be patched in firewall. You guys do it this way?
2. I could grind it off from the top destroying the section of the wing. Are all inner wings the same? Can I gamble safely that the one my out out of state guy has is for a tr3b post TS6000?

Really appreciate the advice... btw I have cut off wheel/air hammer/grinder/compressor....

While I can't offer any advice, I will say I still have my outer fenders off and can take any pix if you would find anything particularly helpful. Just let me know.
